2024 Sustainability Seminar: Pureness Explores the Connection Between Environmental Sustainability and Essential Oils

With the rise of global sustainability trends, various green issues are sparking discussions across different industries. To explore how businesses can balance profitability with environmental protection, Pureness International hosted the "2024 Sustainability Seminar" on July 26 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The event featured three experts: Yan Zi-Mao (嚴子貿), Strategic Consultant from National Taiwan University Experimental Forest; Chen Xi-Ting (陳熙諪), Aromatherapy Instructor from the UK IFA; and Lin Jia-Zhen (林嘉貞), Perfumer from the UK MBHT, along with industry experts for a day of exchange.

The seminar began with a keynote speech by Chen Kuan-Chun, CEO of Pureness International, who introduced the brand’s services, new ingredient developments, patented formulas, and sustainability projects from the first half of the year. He also highlighted the company’s efforts in green innovation with eco-friendly packaging, replacing plastic with biodegradable materials to achieve a 35% reduction in plastic use. This underscores Pureness’s commitment to balancing business growth with environmental protection, promoting both environmental and social well-being.

The seminar's themes were "Sustainable Power: Building a Green and Sustainable Economy," "Plant-Based Power: Applications of Natural Extract Energy," and "Transformation Power: Exploring the Fragrance Parallel Universe." The goal was to explore the connection between environmental sustainability and plant-based essential oils to enhance corporate social image and brand value, aiming to achieve a sustainable economy.

At 1:30 PM, Dr. Yan Zi-Mao, a Ph.D. in Sustainable ESG Management and Strategic Consultant at National Taiwan University Experimental Forest, delivered a speech titled "Sustainable Power: Building a Green and Sustainable Economy." He addressed the main causes of temperature effects and ecological crises and discussed how to achieve economic and corporate social responsibility through biocredit methodologies. Dr. Yan also shared the result of the collaboration between Pureness International and National Taiwan University Experimental Forest, highlighting the use of carbon-negative packaging materials and diffusers made from leftover domestic wood materials. This collaboration, which includes Pureness’s patented commercialization technology, has reduced carbon emissions from essential oil packaging by 30% and earned recognition as an international souvenir from the "World Climate Foundation." The partnership will continue with ongoing green projects.

At 2:30 PM, the second speech was delivered by Chen Xi-Ting, a Master in Natural Medicine and Aromatherapy Instructor from the UK IFA. Her presentation, titled "Plant-Based Power: Applications of Natural Extract Energy," revealed the healing properties of plant essential oils. She introduced Pureness’ latest essential oil raw materials, including Japanese Yuzu, coffee, agarwood, cypress, Luanta fir, and Taiwan hinoki. Attendees had the opportunity to experience these scents and learn about several patented experimental formulas, including those for sleep and women's intimate care. Chen Xi-Ting also shared results from human trials involving 200 participants conducted in collaboration with AstraZeneca and Northeast Hospital. The women's intimate care formula’s efficacy and safe ingredients have been published in the international ASCO cancer journal (Issue No: 1063).

At 3:30 PM, the final speech was delivered by Lin Jia-Zhen, a Perfumer from UK MBHT. Her presentation, titled "Transformation Power: Exploring the Fragrance Parallel Universe," revealed the IUCN's classifications of endangered species and explained why some essential oils are more expensive. She shared alternative essential oils and monomer scents for five high-cost oils and discussed how perfumery techniques can help reduce costs while achieving similar results.
